Hi there, fellow travelers!
I’m Dawn, and I’m thrilled to be a guest blogger on Hive and Seek this week. My bestie Sarah, your usual content curator, couldn’t make it to Chicago with us to celebrate our September birthdays, but she was definitely with us in spirit. So, what did three Virgos do to crush a birthday weekend in Chicago? They started by picking a neighborhood or two to focus the fun.
We stayed in an Airbnb in Logan Square. It wasn’t fancy, but we each had our own bed and the shower was nice. Seriously though, we’ve had better places and would rate this one a 5 out of 10. The best thing about it was the location and that’s all that matters when you’re exploring a new neighborhood!
Day One: Logan Square/Wicker Park Birthday Blitz
Our first night began with happy hour at Revolver (2237 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647, Revolver)
The Lemon Drop and espresso martinis were delicious, and we snacked on popcorn and chips with caviar dip. Revolver gets an A+ for atmosphere—cool, dark, and great music. Drinks and food weren’t bad either.

After happy hour, we walked north to The Den Theatre (1331 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622, The Den) for some sketch comedy. The show, “Corporate Takeover,” was really funny. If you work in corporate, you’ll definitely want to check it out. The Den is a beautiful venue, the shows are reasonably priced, and there’s a bar, too.

After the comedy, we took the advice of our earlier Uber driver, Monica, and headed to Scofflaw (3201 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647, Scofflaw)
This bar and restaurant was fabulous. It had a cool vibe with couch seating (I love a couch!). The drinks were solid, and we shared a charcuterie plate, crab cakes, and fries. Were we the oldest ones there? One hundred percent. Did we care? Not at all! It wasn’t awkward in the slightest.

Stay tuned for our next day’s adventures!
