Looking for a fun way to heat up this winter? Plan a Superfly Soup Party!
What you will need:
- Some fun friends and/or family to invite over
- a soup recipe
- spoons
- ladles
- muffin tins (you can use bowls, but the tins are more fun)
- napkins
- Crackers
- counter space for crockpots
- Ice for beverages

There were ten of us, a charcuterie board, 4 crocks of soup, 2 loaves of sourdough, and mini donuts for dessert. We could have been stranded in our house for two weeks and still wouldn’t have put a dent in the food.

Full disclosure: This soup party was not my idea. I saw it on Instagram, and it was really cold out that day (month), and soup sounded so good……. I just had to try it for myself.
The party was a SOUPER success! The soups were hot, and delicious. We coordinated with each other so that there were no duplicates. Between trays of food, we played lots of cards and had many laughs.
Were I to do this type of party again, there are a few changes that I would make:
- Create a sign up sheet with the following categories:
- snacks
- soups
- crackers & bread
- dessert
- have everyone bring a copy of their soup recipe
- Have everyone bring a couple of to-go containers
I made a cabbage meatball soup. It was quick (except for the meatballs, I am not a fan of premade frozen meatballs, so I made my own). I got the recipe from https://www.spendwithpennies.com/cabbage-meatball-soup/
I changed the recipe but not much honestly. here is my modified version:
The Meatballs – You make these, at least, the day before, cook, and freeze them. This recipe makes three full trays of meatballs. I don’t use them all in the soup some are frozen separately for weeknight meals later.
Ingredients:
4 pounds of LEAN ground turkey and LEAN ground beef. I used 3 pounds turkey and 1 pound beef
2 cups dry italian bread crumbs
1 cup milk
2 tsp himalayan sea salt
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp pepper
2 sweet onions (1 cup) diced
4 eggs
Process:
- Combine above ingredients.
- Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls
- Place onto PARCHMENT-LINED baking sheet pans
- Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 25 minutes (until 165 degrees FAHRENHEIT)
- Allow to cool, place into freezer safe containers, and place in the freezer
Soup Ingredients:
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- 2 medium sweet onions
- 4 carrots chopped
- 4 stalks of celery chopped
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 10 cups beef broth
- 8 cups chopped green cabbage (3/4 of a medium head)
- 2 cans of original rotel with juices
- 1/2 tsp himalayan sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- frozen meatballs to taste
Procedure:
- Heat olive oil in large pot over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery. Cook until soft, approximately 4-5 minutes. Stir in flour and oregano, cook for 1 minute.
- Add the broth, cabbage, rotel, salt, and pepper. Stir in frozen meatballs.
- Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook covered until cabbage is tender (20 minutes or so).
- For the Souper Party, I just set mine to low (once cooked) and allowed it to soak up all of the flavors.
