I have a confession to make. I really, really, love stained glass. It is so beautiful, and I have always wanted to learn how to make it. Although today, I did actually have to look up whether it’s stained or stain glass. According to Gemini, it is stained not stain. But I digress…..
The weather, as I have mentioned before, has been rough after a couple of milder winters here in Northern Michigan. The cold and snow have been colder and snowier than usual, or maybe it’s just time to retire and go south for the winter (hint. hint. Chuck.).
I am eager to get out of here for Spring Break, but in the meantime, I have to find things that keep me busy and my mind off of my empty nest. Specifically, off of the fact that only two of three of my children called me last week. Not gonna name names, but you know who you are, and now we’ll see if you actually read my blog. haha!
Last week’s adventure was a stained glass class at Up North Arts. I have to say that all of the classes I have taken at Up North Arts have had AMAZING teachers, and this one was no exception. Sheri and her husband Dean were so patient with us, me, and I was so pleased with the art piece that I made. Never have I ever worked with glass before, and I, of course, picked a pretty detailed snowflake to create. What can I say? I guess I like a challenge.

Cutting, grinding, foiling, and welding my snowflake was super enjoyable! Well…..the foiling was not my favorite part, but I did really enjoy the other steps in the process. I will definitely take another class. Chuck is safe from the fear of having more Amazon packages show up at the house with stained glass supplies. This is not something that I will try on my own….yet.
