Today’s Barcelona adventures had us doing a Picasso Walking Tour. Keep reading for more insight.
This is our last full day in Barcelona, and number one on our itinerary was a Picasso Walking Tour.
I’ve always liked the quirky, okay maybe a little crazy, artists (hi mom!). Keep this in mind when I tell you that the only reason why I am here in Barcelona, freezing, instead of in southern Spain basking in the warm sun, is to visit the Picasso Museum.

Our tour started with a trip through the Gothic Quarter and stop at the 4 Cats. This is a cafe that Picasso, and other artists, used to frequent. We then walked from 4 Cats to the Picasso Museum.
Our tour guide, Iris, is a Barcelona native and extremely knowledgeable about art and Picasso. She also knows A LOT about the history of Barcelona. It’s funny how we have seen some of the historical landmarks on every single one of our trips, but every time we see it with a new guide we learn something new. This is why I recommend that you do several different types of tours if you have time in a new city.

After a leisurely walk through the Gothic and El Born quarters of Barcelona, we arrived at the Picasso museum. Iris took us through the museum, explaining the different artistic phases of Picasso’s life and answered our group’s many questions eagerly. When she was finished, we were allowed to go back and look at the art at our own pace, ending with a stop in the gift shop.

Macey and I decided to go back to the 4 Cats and at least have a beverage to pretend like we were bougie artist-types. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the cafe was busy but not overly so. We were seated immediately.

Yesterday, we had tapas and sangria. Today, we kept with our Spanish foods and drinks and tried vermouth (both red and white, I prefer white) and seafood paella. Neither the vermouth nor the paella at 4 Cats disappointed…. So, so good! Chef’s kiss, mwah!

We ended our day with a Hop on Hop off bus tour. Yesterday we did the blue line tour and today we did the red line tour. I can officially say that we have seen ALL of Barcelona. I swear every time I see the Sagrada Familia (5th time today) I notice something new!

Our day ended with a trip to the St Josep Market. This was a suggestion by our favorite tour guide Angi. She said we should all go, but be careful on prices. In keeping with our quest for authentic Spanish food, we wanted to try empanadas and heard that this was the place to go.
