Swarming the Globe

Show me some of those Spanish dances

Today was filled with Spanish dancing. Not by me. I didn’t have enough sangria for that lol! Read on to find out more about our adventures.

Approaching Seville

Travel day. We left Barcelona via train, connected with another train in Madrid, and then traveled to Sevilla. A plane would have been much faster but I wanted to see the countryside and what better way then by train? Ironically, I was not able to charge my phone on the train, so I was truly forced to look out the window and experience the Spanish terrain. It was amazing! Rural farmlands (fruit tree orchards) like Michigan but mountainous like Pennsylvania.

It’s Holy Week, and Seville is wall-to-wall packed with parades, tradition, and tourists. When I say wall-to-wall, I mean it’s jam packed! Shoulder to shoulder. The parade areas are not the place for anyone who is claustrophobic or who hates people. There are people. Lots of people.

Ironically, because of the parade popularity, one of the usually popular tourist places was not as crowded, Plaza de Espana. We were able to leisurely stroll through the Plaza, take pictures, and enjoy some of the performances.

Flamenco
Boy George?

Did I mention that it’s much warmer here than Barcelona? Barcelona’s temperature was in the 60s. Seville is in the 80s. My kind of weather except when I was walking from the airport to the Airbnb dragging my luggage through the mean crowded streets. I walked twenty-two thousand steps and the majority of my day was on a train!

After dragging my luggage and self through the CROWDED streets of Seville, I was ready for a little relaxation (and a Sangria). Luckily, I reserved us tickets for Authentic Flamenco Night con cena (with dinner).

Small and intimate, so be sure to book in advance

Flamenco originated in southern Spain, so there is no better place to experience it than Seville. If you do nothing else in Seville, buy these tickets, and add the dinner. It was all amazing!

You are served four courses, and two beverages of your choice. While you indulge in the beautifully prepared local delicacies, you are treated to amazing flamenco performances. My seat was practically on the stage, at one point I was almost hit with the dancer’s dress! I was fully immersed in the flamenco experience!

I see flamenco lessons and a new outfit in Chuck’s future!

In conclusion, do this activity!
