Touring Barcelona

La vida tourista loca. Read today’s blog to find out what we did.

This video was recorded in Barcelona. A fun fact that we learned on one of our tours today

We started our la vida tourista loca yesterday. I’m hoping that that says “the crazy tourist life” but as I mentioned my espanol es no bueno so please forgive me if it isn’t quite right.

Whenever I travel to a new place I like to spend the first day or two doing tours. This helps me get my bearings in the city, get suggestions for places to eat, and find places that I want to go back for another look that I might not have seen otherwise. We’ve actually done three different tours the last day and a half. All of them different. Here is what we thought:

Miles enjoying his Tuk Tuk tour.

Day 1: Welcome to Barcelona in Eco Tuk Tuk private tour.

To be fair, I was completely jet lagged for this tour. Our tour guide, Yago, was friendly, funny, and tried to engage us in conversation but I was so tired I think we may have missed some of his questions. I think he understood this. Well I hope he did anyway.

You are going to see this jean jacket a lot. It’s chilly here, and I didn’t pack a lot of warm clothes because they take up too much room in my suitcase!

The eco Tuk Tuk tours are great for the first day of your trip anywhere. You just sit back and relax while being chauffeured around the city. The driver shows you the best of the city and entertains you with local stories. The tour lasts two hours. Yago drove like a maniac, so I’m pretty sure we saw everything there was to see in Barcelona. It may have been a brief sighting, but we saw it! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. It made the tour that much more exciting. lol. Really it was a great tour and we were able to get some wonderful pics, and get our first glimpse of Barcelona. Yago’s tour did not disappoint.

After a good night’s sleep, we got up early for the Barcelona all included tour. This included Sagrada, Park Güell, Montjuic, and Gothic just to name a few of the sights we saw. This tour was seven hours. The first hour and a half was a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter. Our tour guide, Angi, was amazing. She was the best tour guide I have EVER had and I’ve taken a lot of tours.

Angi was so entertaining! She kept the pace comfortable for all. She spoke loudly enough that we all could hear. I just can’t say enough nice things.

Since this was a longer tour, we really got into the details of Barcelona. We were also able to explore a bit on our own which is nice as well.

Beware if traveling with children, this tour includes a stop at the Barcelona beach, which is clothing optional. It’s supposed to be on one side of the beach, but we saw everything, everywhere. It’s fine with me, if you’re comfortable naked in public, you do you. I just wanted you to know so that you’re prepared.

No nudes here, don’t worry.

We ended our day with a Barcelona Ghost Tour: Gothic Quarter Legends and Dark History. The McKeever family loves a good ghost tour and this one did not disappoint us.

Our tour guide, Adri, took us to some of the same places that we visited with Angi, but the tour was not the same and we did learn some new things, and expanded on others.

The tour was an hour and a half. It was dark. It was a bit creepy at times. Some local people added a little extra drama at certain points of the tour making it that much more exciting.

I learned so much today, and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. I walked more than 20,000 steps. Tomorrow we are doing a Hop on Hop off city bus tour. I like these tours because we can get off the bus and revisit certain areas. We can also sit for as long as we like haha.
