Swarming the Globe

good friends, good books, and good coffee

I love the smell of coffee and appreciate the ambiance of a good coffee shop, but I do not LIKE the taste of coffee….AT ALL. Can we still be friends?

This month, my book club decided to meet in the morning at an out-of-town (to me) but local-favorite coffee shop called Cornerstone Coffee in McBain, MI.

Cornerstone Coffee is a cozy cafe that offers comfortable seating both inside and out. The perfect place for a book club gathering. It has a drive-up window as well as a coffee wagon that can be seen around at events and happenings in the area.

The menu offered is typical of any coffee shop, but probably most importantly to coffee fans everywhere is the fact that the coffee is delicious. It is also affordably priced. I tried the Oregon Chai Tea Latte as well as a breakfast bagel sandwich (everything bagel, sausage patty, egg & cheese) and can attest to both being tasty. Next time I go, I think I’ll branch out and try a Lotus Energy Flight. The drinks look so pretty, and I can use all of the energy that I can get.

The first rule of fight club may be to not talk about fight club, but there is no such rule for book club. Yes, we do discuss the books that we read! We also talk about trips we have planned, have taken, or dream of. Other topic areas of discussion include, but are not limited to, our children/grandchildren, pets, and favorite shows to stream. Thinking about starting a book club and don’t have any idea of where to begin? Message me for more information.

What do you need for a book club meeting at a coffee shop?

A good book, obviously. This month we read Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars: https://amzn.to/4awNgex

A cute bag to carry your laptop, book(s), and wallet: https://amzn.to/4beUq7d

A cute book-themed t-shirt: https://amzn.to/4vGl0hQ

A cute book-themed sweatshirt (just in case it gets cold): https://amzn.to/4phZgqt

Coffee has so many taste variables….. there are some I can’t stand and others that I can’t do without.

    Keep trying!
