Yesterday was my last day with students, so today is my first official day of summer. It’s time for my 2026 Summer Bucket List
One of my besties, Dawn, wrote a post on LinkedIn about how she stays on top of things when under tremendous pressure. Her go-to strategy is the old-school handwritten list.
I agree with Dawn; I love a good list. During the school year, if you look on my desk, you will find sticky notes with lists, notebooks (yes, plural) with lists, checklists for my students in Google Classroom, lists on my whiteboard for myself and my students, sometimes I even write lists on my hands, and the list goes on and on and on. (ha. ha.) I love checking things off my list. I love writing things on the list that I’ve already accomplished and crossing them off. It is an amazing feeling to look at that list at the end of the week (or whatever time period that I gave myself) and see everything checked off.
Even in periods of time, when there isn’t as much stress as there usually is in my life, like now, I enjoy a good list. I find that if I don’t have the list my attitude becomes, “Oh, I have all summer, I can get to that later”, and before I know it summer is over and I have no time left to get stuff done.
So last spring, when I began this blog, I decided to hold myself accountable and post my summer bucket list. Here it is:
My Summer 2025 Bucket List
🧳 Travel somewhere every week.
✅ Do one Spanish lesson every day
(I’m planning to visit Child #2 in Spain for Christmas!)
📚 Read something every day
🚶 Exercise or walk five days per week
✍️ Write a minimum of one blog post every week
🌸 Create a backyard flower garden
🏖️ Go to the beach at least once per week
Did I accomplish everything on my list? Nope. But I came pretty close. Close enough that I’ve decided that the summer bucket list is something that I should probably continue. Some things that I am going to modify? I am going to make my list a bit more specific and measurable (S.M.A.R.T.) this year, holding myself to an even higher standard.

So here we go!
☀️ Summer 2026 Bucket List
📚 Read Every Day
- Read for 20 minutes each day.
✍️ Write Consistently
- Publish one blog post every week.
📱 Grow Hive & Seek
- Post on Hive & Seek social media twice per week:
🧶 Get Organized
- Organize my crafting area and supply closet. This is more for Chuck than for me. I like the cluttery-ness of my crafting area, but it stresses him out so I’ll try…
🚶 Stay Active
- Exercise or go for a walk 4 days a week.
🇩🇪 Prepare for Oktoberfest 2029
- Complete a German lesson 5 days a week to get ready for my future trip to Germany!
🌻 Here’s to a Fun and Productive Summer!
I’m excited to see how much progress I can make over the next few months. What’s on your summer bucket list?
